JULY 2020 – BUILD COMPLETE!
Our builders – RJK Construction (Midlands) Ltd - have now completed and
handed over the keys to our brand-new Village Hall.
It has been an almost total rebuild, giving us a much larger Hall
space, plus another small Meeting Room and extra storage.
The Kitchen is at least twice the size and we now have a separate Bar
(see photos).
The toilets are now very plush and, may I say, a pleasure to use!!
We still can’t quite believe where all the extra space has come from!
This project has been the result of tireless fundraising & grant
application effort over the last 18 months, to achieve a bigger, better
Hall to better serve the growing Clifton community in the 2020s and
beyond.
What a fantastic achievement this is, how wonderful to see it all come
to fruition after all our hard work!
The funds were secured from the following major charity-funding bodies,
along with local fundraising events by the dedicated CC Village Hall
Management Committee.
We also benefitted greatly from the ‘Buy-A-Brick’ campaign and donations
from Villagers and “Friends of the Village”. This enabled us to purchase
all our kitchen equipment, etc, and take delivery of our new ‘Skittles
Alley’ last week. We could not have done it without your generosity!
So a big THANK YOU to all our
supporters during this very difficult and unprecedented time.
With special thanks to our charity partners:
·
#NationalLottery.
We received a HUGE cheque for £99,799, from the National Lottery
Community Fund
(facebook.com/TNLCommunityFund & Twitter @TNLComFund)
·
The
European Agricultural Fund for Rural
Development: Europe investing in rural areas
kindly granted us £65,152
· Biffa Award generously granted us £75,000, as part of the Landfill Communities Fund (@BiffaAward) &
(#TheLCF)
We also received grants from the following bodies:
·
‘We
Love Lichfield’ (The Community Foundation for
Staffordshire)
awarded us £1,000 towards equipment.
·
Sport
England’
awarded us £3,541 towards equipment.
·
‘People
Helping People’
gave us a grant of £1,000
·
And last, but not least our
‘Parish Council’ (under the umbrella of
Lichfield District Council)
awarded us £1,500
At time of writing, we still have a small amount of kitchen equipment to
acquire – but Pat Moore has got her ‘grant application hat’ on again, so
fingers crossed!
What a fantastic result all-round & what a great bunch of people we’ve
encountered on our rebuild journey!
Rest assured, when we are back to some kind of “normality” - and we can
keep everyone safe & well - we will be welcoming you back to new and
exciting events at the village hall.
Village Hall Flooring and scaffolding up!
We are now approximately 2 months in and things are progressing well.As you
can see from the photos below showing progress with flooring & scaffolding
now up for the roof.
We could not have achieved this without your help.
So again - a big THANK YOU to all you 'Buy-A-Brickers'!
DRUM ROLL!
We’ve done it!
We are pleased
to announce that we have now successfully
secured all
three grants from the major charity-funding bodies.
Yes!
I know, what fantastic news!
Congratulations to all the
members of the
Village Hall Committee for all their hard work
(special thanks
to Sue Wadham, Pat Green & Pat Moore).
Thanks to all their efforts, the rumble of bulldozers & builders will
be arriving probably, mid-September!
This means that the Coffee Shop (including Yoga & Craft Club)
will be temporarily relocating to
HAUNTON
Church Hall from
MONDAY
2 SEPTEMBER
– so grab a friend & come along to celebrate our new home for a few months &
try a mouth-watering “Bacon Roll + a drink” for £3.50 – what a bargain!
Or, why not try one of our speciality teas or coffees with a slice of
delicious cake for just £3 (please note new price).
However, we
still need continued support whilst at Haunton, to accumulate funds to buy a
self-contained Skittle Alley, new chairs and freezer etc, so you can still
help & be a part of this community fundraising event.
Forms available from Village Hall Committee members, or use the link
on front page of website to our ‘campaign’ form, or use the form in Mease
Valley News on how to donate towards the Village Hall rebuild & get your
name emblazoned on a brick for posterity!
Thank you to all our donators past & future for your generosity, we
could not have achieved this momentous milestone without you.
PLEASE NOTE
– Military Whist Drive is relocating to
LULLINGTON
Village Hall.
Now the big job
of packing up & demolishing begins . . . . .
What a mammoth effort on Saturday (31 August) - well done team! Fantastic job. HUGE thanks to the Wadhams (Sue, Nigel, Roag & Andy), Helen Pugh (who took the very large Christmas tree & Medieval Banquet crockery). Plus, Pat Green, Martin & Julie Smale & not forgetting the marvellous Steve & van - we could not have done this without you!
